Player Handbook

Welcome to the 2016 BEHS Girls Soccer Season.  We look forward to getting to know all of you and your girls.  This program has made incredible strides over the last several years. The coaching staff and I have every intention of keeping the progress going.  Most importantly, we look forward to giving you and your daughter a positive and rewarding experience.  We will need, and expect, your help in making this the best year it can be.  I would like to address a few items right up front in hopes of clarifying any questions.

Commitment Expectations

As a student athlete, your daughter will have a lot of demands on her time.  We are very aware of the commitment we impose on the girls.  While we want to ensure that we strike the right balance in the girl’s lives, high school athletics are by nature a demanding business.  Please help your daughter prioritize accordingly.

Finish Registration

Now that your student has been invited to participate, you will need to finish the rest of the registration process on line.  That means paying the fees and turning in the physical form.  Physicals must be filled out on the form available online.  Other forms will not be accepted.  Once completed, the physical will need to be turned into Kim Peterson, the athletic director.  Physicals must be turned in before the first game.
There is a participation and drug test fee that will need to be paid online before the first game.  A camp, uniform and lunch fee will need to be paid online once our fundraising is done and we know exactly how much your daughter owes.

Purchase Training Wear and Spirit Wear

Training apparel can be purchased from Scoreboard Sports. I only require each athlete to purchase the shorts. If you have purchased shorts in the past you do not have to purchase them every year.
Some optional items are available that we feel will enhance the girls experience.  Warm ups, away day dress shirt and jackets will all be available. Orders can be placed through their online store throughout the season. More information will come in the next week as the items become available.

Diet

One of the more important aspects of being a student athlete is getting and staying fit.  This means the girls have to eat properly to make sure they have the appropriate energy level when they are called upon to compete.  Please discuss their eating habits and diet with them and ensure they are getting the proper nutrition.

Committees

There are several committees that we need help on.  Without the help of parents we will not be able to have the fullest experience possible.  Please consider donating your time to help us have a great year.

Parent Manager / Treasurer:  Help me track fundraising efforts and work with the school treasurer secretary. Be the point person for all money related items.

Game Day Coordinator:   Setup PA, Run Scoreboard, coordinate the National Anthem singers and flag bearers, get MC to announce and do play be play, coordinate ball girls.

Cheer Lead:  Lead the cheers during the match and create an overall energetic atmosphere that people enjoy.  Coordinate

Travel Lunch Coordinator:  Make sure lunches are there for the bus ride home

Retreat Committee Chair:  Help organize all the extra activities during the retreat so the coaches can focus on coaching!

Concession Chair:  Stock the concession, find deals, coordinate the staffing of the concessions (Home games and JR Bees), and keep the concessions clean.

PR Chair:   Photography, school announcements, Facebook updates, Schedules for the community.

County Cup (shield) Chair:  Manage the Count Cup activities so we have a great game day atmosphere with our rival, with Bear River

Senior Day Chair:   Head up the activities to properly recognize our outgoing Seniors on the last home game of the year.

Banquet Chair:   Lead a team that can put together the end of season banquet that will be the final activity for the soccer season.

Again, without your help there is no way we can have the kind of program and activities that enhance the students’ experience.  You are vital to this programs success and you will make the difference in the memories that these girls take away from this season.  We look forward to working with you.

Box Elder Women Soccer Team Rules
·
     EQUIPMENT:  Every girl must have proper equipment (cleats, shin guards, water, ball, practice uniform) for every practice and game.  Girls must where proper practice uniform.
·
     PRACTICE AND GAME ATTENDANCE:  Attend and be on time for each practice and game.  If a player is not present at the start of practice or game, they are considered late.  Excused absences and excused late arrivals include sibling wedding, loss in family, test or school event.  Other absences or late arrivals that the coach is informed of, that aren’t related to the previously stated reasons will result in a half game suspension. (Having another player inform coaches is not allowed).  A player that misses practice or a game and does not inform coaches will be suspended one match.  Two times will be a two game suspension.  Three times will be cause for dismissal from team.  Dances will only be excused during time of dance, not excused for the date.

·      BUS:  All players will ride on the bus to and from the away matches.  While on the bus, the player will handle himself properly and not cause damage to the bus or disrupt other teammates.

       TEAM BUILDING:  It is important to attend team building activities as planned by the Hive or coaching staff.  If a player is unable to attend, she needs to inform one of the coaches.  If the player does not inform coach, the player will be suspended half a match.

·      GPA:  Players are expected to maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher and have no “U’s” on their citizenship grade.  If your grades slip and you have any Ds, you will be ineligible to play in a game until you receive a C in the class.  If you have any Fs, you will be unable to participate with the team in anyway until you receive a C in the class.  Anyone that has a D or lower at any point in the season will not be eligible to letter.

·      OFF THE PITCH:  Players are expected to represent themselves, their families, their school and this program off the pitch.  If a player fails to represent the above with integrity, the player will be called into a meeting with parent, coaches and administration to determine proper penalty.
·      COMMUNITY:  Players are expected to be contributing members of our community.   Each player will be asked to perform a service to the community sometime during the season.  If a player fails to complete a service, this will be treated as an unexcused missed practice resulting in a one game suspension.  (Examples will be volunteer refereeing for AYSO for one Saturday, Food Pantry help, school visits).

School Song
O sing we a song of Box Elder;
Her colors are Purple and White.
Tell all the world of her triumphs,
Led by the lily so white.
Then join in her praise students loyal;
Hail, we our dear old Alma Mater.
We are the boosters of Box Elder;
we love you, praise you and support you
Dear Box Elder.
(Repeat)

Fight Song
Sing a song of our dear school.
Shout ‘till the mountains ring.
Stand to greet the gang once again,
Let every loyal “B” man sing.
Cheers, (Rah! Rah!) For all the happy hours.
Cheers for the memories;
Cheers for Alma Mater,
Box Elder shall it be always.
